What We Do

UNY I-Corps is part of the National Innovation Network (NIN), a national network of NSF-funded researchers from I-Corps Teams, Sites, and Nodes. Working together, this network of thinkers addresses America’s needs for innovation education, infrastructure, and research.

By bringing together the expertise of Cornell University, University of Rochester, and the Rochester Institute of Technology, the UNY I-Corps Node can offer top-tier STEM research and development experience. The UNY I-Corps Node will foster the inclusion of I-Corps participants, particularly underrepresented minorities, women, and the disabled in regional I-Corps programs. In partnership with RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf – the Nation’s largest engineering program for the deaf and hard of hearing – the UNY I-Corps Node will encourage nationwide participation from this underrepresented group.

The UNY I-Corps Node leverages the resources of the Northeast to support regional innovation education, infrastructure, and research. We work cooperatively with other I-Corps Nodes and the I-Corps National Innovation Network to foster understanding on how to:

  • Identify, develop and support promising ideas that can generate value,
  • Create and implement tools and resources that enhance our nation’s innovation capacity,
  • Gather, analyze, evaluate and utilize the data and insight resulting from the experiences of the I-CorpsTM Teams, and
  • Share and leverage effective innovation practices on a national scale to improve the quality of life for the American public.
